Introduction and Product Usage
Hi. I'm Michael Herbert, and welcome to Getting Started with SOLIDWORKS Visualize. Visualize, formerly known as Bunkspeed, is a rendering and animation program that can be used through SOLIDWORKS as an add-in or as a stand-alone program. Visualize comes in standard and professional versions. I'll be using the professional version in this course, which has some added features, mainly allowing the creating of animations. Visualize has the capability of letting someone with little or no graphics experience make quick and attractive renders by using the program in easy mode, and following the steps displayed by the icons in the lower control panel. You can toggle between easy and standard mode by pressing the Spacebar or from selecting it from the View tab. In this course I'll be using standard mode, which has many more features, but you should be aware of simple mode if you need a quick rendering. Because Visualize can be linked to SOLIDWORKS any changes made in your model can be quickly updated. I'll show you how this works in the next module. In this course I'll be using different SOLIDWORKS models and making changes to them as we go along. You can download copies of the models from the exercise files. By the end of this course you'll be able to navigate the user interface, learn to work with appearances and textures, create a scene by using HDR images and back plates, how to group and separate parts, make renderings, and create animations. Before jumping in you should have some basic knowledge of SOLIDWORKS and rendering terminology.
