Description

This course will give detailed descriptions about how Revit Curtain Walls function. We'll learn about curtain panels and mullions, both out of the box and customizable. We'll learn about the variety of mullion times, how to model and draft specific complex glazing geometries. Finally, we'll learn about curtain systems in Revit and how curtain walls and adaptive component patterns work in those curtain systems.

Course Overview
Hello, my name is Evan Anderson-Decina, and welcome to my course on Storefront, Curtain Walls, and Curtain Systems in Revit. I'm an architect in my hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana and specialize in building information modeling and design visualization. In architecture, glazing systems and assemblies are commonplace, and Revit has a handful of tools that allow for a lot of flexibility to design whatever you want. Some of the major topics that we will cover in this course are understanding the basic Revit curtain wall tool and all its constraints, understanding how to customize mullions and panels for the curtain walls, understanding curtain systems, and understanding pattern based curtain systems. But by the end, you'll feel comfortable knowing when to use what tools, and feel confident in your ability to model glazing assemblies. Have an understanding of the Revit interface and some family editing before diving into this course. I'm excited to share these tips and tricks with you, so log in, and we can explore storefronts, curtain walls, and curtain systems in Revit together.

The Revit Curtain Wall
This is the first module in the course on Storefront, Curtain Walls, and Curtain Systems in Revit. In this module we're going to quickly review the Revit curtain wall, the Revit curtain system, and the pattern based systems. We'll understand which to use in what architectural settings like storefront and curtain walls, we'll learn about all of the constraints and governing controls within Revit curtain walls, we'll learn about the standard, out of the box, rectangular mullion and its functionality, and finally we'll learn how to create a customer curtain mullion, and then implement it into a project.

Curtain Panels and Curtain Systems
This is the second module in the course on Curtain Wall, Storefront, and Curtain Systems in Revit. In this module, we'll review the curtain panel and all of its properties and constraints. We'll create our own custom curtain panel for a project and try it out. We'll learn about curtain systems and the similarities and differences between it and Revit curtain walls. And finally we'll learn all about the other out of the box curtain wall mullions that we didn't cover in module one.

Pattern Based Curtain System and Other Curtain Wall Applications
This is the third module in the course on Curtain Wall, Storefront, and Curtain Systems in Revit. In this module we'll learn about pattern based curtain systems and miscellaneous uses of curtain walls inside Revit. We'll start by learning how to create and set up those pattern based curtain systems with Revit masses. We'll learn how to create a custom pattern based family, and then we'll place it in a project just like we did our custom mullions and custom curtain panels. Finally we'll see some non-traditional uses of the curtain wall in Revit to show you the power of the curtain wall tool.
