In addition to rolling out Office 365 and configuring a secure authentication method for users to access content regardless of where it is located, it is also important to monitor and troubleshoot any issues that may arise between on-premises and Office 365. In this course, Monitoring and Troubleshooting Office 365 Availability and Usage, you’ll explore how to monitor Office 365 and its services using the reports automatically generated for your Office 365 tenants. These reports fall under either the Usage or the Security and Compliance categories, and within these categories you’ll find several types of reports on the activity and usage of each service, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), malware, spam, and email activity. First, you’ll learn how to customize and filter the information provided in these reports, as well as how to create a soft copy of them. Next, you’ll discover how to assist your users with any service or connectivity issues by submitting and tracking Microsoft service requests. Finally, you’ll examine the tools available for troubleshooting connectivity issues between your client machines, Office 365, and the services within Office 365. By the end of this course, you’ll have a better understanding of the tools and processes involved in maintaining Office 365 and its services.

Hi everyone, my name is Brian Alderman and welcome to my course Monitoring and Troubleshooting Office 365 Availability and Usage.

In addition to providing users access to content stored in Office 365 and on-premises it is necessary for us to monitor, and troubleshoot the individual services usage, activity, as well as troubleshoot any user connectivity issues to Office 365. Office 365 provides many ways for us to monitor the usage and activity of services, and several tools for troubleshooting different types of connectivity issues your users may encounter. This course will provide an understanding of the different reports, and tools that can be used to monitor and troubleshoot Office 365 services.

In this course, we are going to introduce and discuss:

  • Office 365 analysis options
  • Reviewing Office 365 and O365 service usage and activity reports
  • Troubleshooting Office 365 client connectivity and service issues

By the end of this course you’ll know how to monitor the usage and activity of Office 365 and its services. You’ll also know how to generate online or file-based reports from within Office 365, and what tools are available for troubleshooting Office 365 and the individual services.

Before beginning the course you should be familiar with Office 365, and have an Office 365 tenant and a public-facing on-premises AD DC that you can use to perform these Office 365 configuration steps as you learn them. In addition, an understanding of PowerShell will be helpful.
