Game Character Concept Design Fundamentals is a beginner's guide for creating characters for a video game development pipeline. In this course, Game Character Concept Design Fundamentals, you'll learn the entire process of basic character concept design. Course Overview
Hi everybody. My name is David Kegg, and welcome to my course, Game Character Design Fundamentals. I'm a freelance concept artist and illustrator, and throughout my career I've worked with some of the top gaming and entertainment companies including Blizzard Entertainment, Riot Games, Blur Studios, Fantasy Flight Games, and many others. Before any gaming experience reaches your console or PC, every visual element of that game starts in the imagination of an artist. Every hero and villain must first be carefully crafted, designed, and brought to life by a concept artist. Through this course, we are going to develop a simple character concept design from start to finish. A few of the major topics that we will cover include preliminary research and character development, learning how to design with intention and purpose, basic form rendering and color exploration, and how to create a full character turnaround sheet ready for a 3D pipeline. By the end of this course, you'll have a complete step-by-step character design process and a finished character folio ready for production. Before beginning this course, you should be familiar with the basics of drawing and painting and have some experience with Adobe Photoshop.
